There are numerous types of bats in Florida. Bats are beneficial as they eat mosquitos and numerous other bugs, but they can also cause many problems to homeowners. Bats like to roost in dark cool areas in during the day and then come out at night to feed. Their natural homes are majority of the times in tree hollows, very densely covered foliage and bridges. They will sometimes find a way into your attic where they will take up residents causing a multitude of hazards. One of the main hazards is bat guano. Bat guano carries a fungus called Histoplasma capsulatum, which can cause a lung infection known as Histoplasmosis when inhaled.
